Tasting the practices
Even though a *vegan could describe the scene of a steak house, or even analyze the nutrients in a cut of beef, they would not be considered an authority on the taste of meat.
Similarly, there are plenty of sources for information about meditation, yoga, martial arts, and the countless other forms of contemplative arts. But these are ideas ABOUT the practice from an outside perspective.
That type of writing can be useful, in it’s own context, sure. And yet…
The best food guides come from those who eat the food.
The best writing on contemplative arts come from those who practice the artforms.
*Please note- If you are a contemplative arts practitioner who happens to also be a food writer and/or vegan, you are welcome here, of course! A food/meat metaphor was used simply because it can be so difficult to describe these concepts, and food is easier to hold up as an example.
